Culture & Creativity Celebration

Our classrooms and courtyard transformed into a vibrant celebration of who we are, blending heritage with the boundless imagination of our pupils. The day began with a burst of colour as children arrived dressed in traditional outfits. Teachers joined the fun, swapping their usual attire for Ankara skirts and embroidered dresses.

In the classrooms, creativity took center stage. The children rolled up their sleeves to make beads, threading colorful strings into necklaces and bracelets. Others were taught how to make pounded yam for a mini art project. Pupils likewise danced to drumbeats, their bare feet tapping rhythms passed down through generations. A storytelling circle followed, with one of the teachers weaving tales of Ijapa the tortoise, while the children joined in singing the song of the tale story.

This day shows our roots and the pupils’ ideas soar. From tasting new foods to crafting beads, the Culture and Creativity Day at LanKem Schools was a joyful bridge between yesterday and tomorrow, a reminder that our heritage fuels the wonders our children create.
